Materials for the history of my time. Memories and reflections The memoirs of the outstanding historian, publicist and public figure Semyon Markovich Dubnov (1860-1941) are a true encyclopedia of Jewish life in Russia. The memoirs were written on the basis of the diaries that S. Dubnov kept throughout his life and which recorded the richest panorama of the events of the second half of the 19th — the first decades of the 20th century. A direct participant and witness to the decisive events of the era - the decline of the Haskalah, the birth and development of Palestinephilism, and later Zionism, the revolution of 1905 - 1907, the creation of Jewish political parties and organizations, the February and October revolutions of 1917 and the civil war, S.M. Dubnov scrupulously restores the picture of the past years, draws portraits of his friends and comrades-in-arms - writers and poets Sholom Aleikha, Kh.N. Bialik, Ben-Ami, S. Fruga, N.S. Leskov, A. Volynsky; political and public figures M. Vinaver, O. Gruzenberg, A. Landau, G. Sliozberg and many others. Activities of S.M. Dubnov took place in the most important centers of Jewish life in Odessa, Vilna, and St. Petersburg during the years when there were cardinal changes in the fate of the Jewish people. The first two volumes are devoted to the scientific, social and political life of Russia, the third volume gives an idea of the Russian-Jewish emigration in Germany, where S.M. Dubnov ended up in 1922-1933. This is the first scientific edition of all three volumes of memoirs, presented as a single complex, provided with an introductory article, bio-bibliographic comments
