The seventeenth revised and expanded edition of the dictionary includes words and phrases that have appeared in recent years. The main sources of replenishment of the dictionary were the works of art by contemporary English, American and Australian writers published over the past decades, as well as modern periodicals. Phonetic transcription is given according to the 13th edition of the D. Jones Dictionary. At the end of the dictionary are a list of place names, a list of personal names and a list of commonly used abbreviations.
