Kalinin, who went from a worker to the head of the supreme body of Soviet power. The book tells about the childhood and youth of Mikhail Ivanovich, about the period of his formation as a Marxist-Leninist, about his active work during the years of the revolutionary underground, about participation in three revolutions. Most of the biography is devoted to the post-October period - the multifaceted activities of M.I. Kalinin as Chairman of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, the Central Executive Committee of the USSR, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for 27 years.
