The materials of the book are intended for specialists, as well as for everyone who is interested in the historical development of the situation in the northwestern direction on the eve of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. They will help to understand deeply and objectively the vicissitudes of the diplomatic and armed struggle in the course of the so-called "winter" or "non-famous" war. One of the little-studied events in the history of our Fatherland was the Soviet-Finnish war, which lasted from November 30, 1939 to March 13, 1940 - 105 days of the most cruel, bloody battles and battles . Many events related to its history were ignored by domestic researchers for a long time, since the bulk of the documents and materials relating to this war were closed, inaccessible to the general reader, and work on removing the secrecy stamp began only recently. The reason was that the war revealed many shortcomings of the top military leadership in the preparation of the Red Army, the poor training of command personnel in command and control of troops, the organization of hostilities, and unsatisfactory material support in the conditions of the northwestern theater.
