Power attracts people like a magnet, attracts them with incredible opportunities and, sadly, often makes them forget about the responsibility that stems from power. This is probably why, when there is even the slightest opportunity to gain power, many go for it, using any means and even shedding blood - often someone else's, but sometimes their own. This is how false rulers and impostors appear, claiming power without any reason whatsoever. At the same time, some of them - for example, Horemheb or Ise Shinkuro - having come to power by a far from righteous path, become not the worst of the rulers, and grateful subjects keep their memory for a long time.
But most of the impostors, claiming power , care only about their own benefit, dreaming of wealth and honors, or, at worst, hoping to at least attract attention to themselves, as did numerous false Louis XVII or false Romanovs. In any case, imposture is a curious psychological phenomenon, so even in the 21st century it is of great interest.
