How the first atomic bomb was created.
December 6, 1941, the White House decided to allocate large funds for the production of an atomic bomb. All work on the production of atomic weapons was entrusted to the army and is now known under the general name of the Manhattan Project. Brigadier General Leslie Groves was appointed head of the project, who was the absolute leader of the entire Manhattan Project, has great advantages over the authors of all published books on this topic, since they most often concerned the description of individual links of this grandiose plan. Considering that of the 15 thousand people involved in the creation of the first atomic bomb, only about a dozen knew the project as a whole, then the memoirs of Groves, who belonged to this dozen people, are of unconditional value. In fact, no one, including the President and Secretary of Defense of the United States, could compare with him in knowledge of all the numerous details of the project.
