In this publication, for the first time, the heritage of the mid-19th century artist AI Gebens is presented so fully. His works are a kind of excursion into the daily life of the Russian army at the junction of two reigns: Nicholas I and Alexander II. Thanks to the painter, portraits and names of Russian soldiers, officers and generals of that difficult time, another "era of change" in our State, have come down to us. The entire illustrative series is built on genuine items.
