Almost unknown to the modern reader, the novel "Women's War" is dedicated to a very peculiar phenomenon of French history - the Fronde (1648 - 1653), namely its stage, which was called the "Fronde of the Princes" (the first stage - the "Parliamentary Fronde" - is partially reflected in "Twenty Years Later"); we are talking about the revolt of the feudal nobility, the “princes of the blood”, who rebelled against the government of Cardinal Mazarin. Against this historical background, the writer unfolds the plot of a “love triangle”: two ladies are in love with a handsome young man - one from the “party of the king”, and the other from the “party of princes”.
