Каркаджу

This story is about the far Canadian North, where the family of a young Indian hunter named Granite Cliff lives. This family includes not only the hunter’s wife and little son, his brother and his brother’s wife, but also the funny tame bear Mister Jim, everyone’s favorite and faithful assistant on the hunt.

It is because of him that all the dramatic events of the story “Karkaju” play out, named after the merciless predator - the wolverine.

The image of this bloodthirsty predator echoes the main theme of the book - the cruel, predatory attitude of whites towards the Indians and the natural resources of this harsh and beautiful land of the white desert.
