The historical novel by Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy "Prince Silver" is a bright and fascinating work. It was written just a few years before Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace", but rather belongs to the adventurous-adventure genre. Suffice it to say that in the 250 pages of the novel, which is quite small, the researchers counted as many as 70 ups and downs - sharp and unexpected plot twists that change the development of the main actions of the characters. The action of the novel develops in the difficult times of the oprichnina, which divided Russian society into two warring groups: those who are on the side of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, and those who are on the side of the boyars, who are losing power and influence under the onslaught and cruelty of the guardsmen.
