The author of the book, Arkady Iosifovich Poltorak, is the former secretary of the Soviet delegation to the International Military Tribunal, which tried the main Nazi war criminals in Nuremberg. He writes about what he saw with his own eyes and heard himself during this process. The reader will learn from the book why exactly Nuremberg became the seat of the International Tribunal, how the dock was “formed”, the history of the capture and placement on this bench of persons guilty of grave crimes against humanity. Together with the author, he will visit the streets of Nuremberg, in the building of the Palace of Justice, where the trial took place, in the hall where the tribunal sat for almost a whole year. He will get acquainted with the judges and prosecutors of the International Tribunal, with the “last line of Nazi defense” represented by German lawyers. Before the eyes of the reader will pass not only the defendants - Goering, Ribbentrop, Keitel, Jodl, Kaltenbrunner, Schacht, but also numerous witnesses, including Field Marshals Brauchitsch, Manstein, Rundstedt and others.
