When Nicholas II signed the abdication of the throne, among the very few high-ranking persons who accepted this renunciation was the author of this book - V. V. Shulgin. Having lived for almost 100 years, he became an eyewitness to the most turbulent historical events of the beginning of our century: the reforms of P. A. Stolypin, the First World War, Rasputinism, pre-revolutionary storms in the State Duma, the fall of the Romanov dynasty, the advent of October and the drama of the civil war. This was reflected in his memoirs "Days" and "1920" and described as the defender of the monarchy and one of the organizers of the white movement understood everything that happened.
