The memoirs of people from the inner circle of Russian politicians are a kind of magnifying glass that allows the reader to discern new features in the image of a famous person, sometimes indistinguishable with the naked eye. This book by the former press secretary A. I. Lebed is no exception. In addition, it can be called the only "leakage of genuine information" from a narrow circle of his closest assistants in 1996-97. It contains a lot of unknown facts that shed light on the reasons for such a stormy career of the peacemaker general and his imminent resignation from the high post of Secretary of the Security Council of Russia. The intonations are very frank, but the book is by no means the fruit of resentment or a desire to settle scores with the main character, to whom the author was sincerely devoted. Everyone in life happens to go through a bitter path of disappointment ... This book is a sincere story about a person with whom the author happened to work from July 1996 to July 1997.
