The name of the great Moliere is on a par with such classics of French drama as Jean Racine and Pierre Corneille. Without the comedies of Molière it is impossible to imagine the theater of the past and the present. For several centuries, The Ridiculous Pretenders, The Tradesman in the Nobility, The Misanthrope, Tartuffe, The Miser, and many of his other plays have been on the stage all over the world for several centuries. Moliere created comedies that, like in a mirror, reflected the whole society, and their characters were authentic and full of life. His theater influenced not only the development of French comedy, but also contributed to the birth of a new realistic drama throughout Europe.
