Рудин

This publication includes works by I. S. Turgenev, which are united by the theme of "extra man": "Hamlet of the Shchigrovsky district", "The Diary of an Extra Man" and the novel "Rudin". Reflection, egocentrism, a feeling of loneliness, despair, etc. are most recognizable in the "superfluous person", but each time they are refracted in a new way. As a result, a hero of this type organically combines the features of his literary predecessors, far from each other: Hamlet and Don Quixote, a romantic individualist rebel and a small man. From these unexpected rapprochements grow images that have an extraordinary artistic nature, and the philosophical subtext of Turgenev's works suggests a higher meaning hidden in the inferiority, deprivation and unfortunateness of such people.
