The authors of this unique international collective work are leading historians from Denmark (M. Thing), Iceland (J. Olafsson), Norway (S.G. Holtsmark), Finland (K. Rentola, T. Saarela) and Sweden (L. Björlin) . They studied in detail the problems of financing the activities of the communist parties of the countries of Northern Europe by the Comintern, the RSDLP (b) (later - the RCP (b), VKP (b), CPSU), as well as some of the ruling parties of the socialist states of Eastern Europe, relying primarily on valuable , sometimes unique documents stored in the largest archives of Russia, Scandinavian countries, Great Britain, Germany, Poland. These long-term studies are of interest, since they trace the features and evolution of financial and other material support for the communist parties and organizations close to them in each of the countries of the mentioned region. In addition, the book has an appendix in which some documents from Russian archives are published. For historians and anyone interested in the history of the international communist and workers' movement, as well as the history of the Soviet Union and the countries of Northern Europe.
