The book consists of two of the most theoretically important works of the largest Polish researcher in the field of morality. The work "Knightly ethos and its varieties" is devoted to the evolution of the knightly ethos, from antiquity to modern history. In "Bourgeois morality" the formation and development of the norms of bourgeois morality and the personal patterns of behavior inherent in it are analyzed in detail. In the course of considering the historical types of morality, the author widely draws on material from fiction, journalism, memoirs, ethnographic and sociological studies, which makes it possible to recommend the book not only to specialists in the history of ethics, but also to a wide range of readers.
