Bolotov Andrey Timofeevich (1738-1833) - writer, memoirist, philosopher, Russian writer and naturalist, one of the founders of domestic agronomic science - left a significant mark on the history of the Russian state.

The most famous literary work Bolotov - his "Notes", published by the editors of "Russian Antiquity" as an appendix to the journal in 1871-1873. under the title "The Life and Adventures of Andrei Bolotov, Described by Himself for His Descendants". They represent a detailed chronicle of the circumstances of his life from birth and, as researchers note, contain the most diverse and in many ways unique material on the history of Russia in the 18th century, including the private life of Emperor Peter III and his entourage, the Moscow plague riot of 1771 about the lifestyle of the provincial nobility of the 18th century, about meetings with Moscow writers (N.I. Novikov, M.M. Kheraskov, N.M. Karamzin, etc.). "Notes" enjoyed great popularity among writers and historians. L.N. Tolstoy called them "precious".
