More info

Valentin Kataev has a keen sense of patriotism and genuine humanism. The focus of the writer's attention is a person in his relationship with time. Along with fictitious, brightly individualized characters, his works include truthfully recreated real historical figures: Mayakovsky, Bunin, and others. The pages dedicated to the image of the great Lenin are written with great warmth.

Volume 1 consists of the stories: "The Little Iron Door in the Wall", "The Holy Well", "The Grass of Oblivion", "The Cube" and the stories "Demyan Tells" and "Violet".

Volume 2. The book "A Broken Life, or the Magic Horn of Oberon" is written on autobiographical material. Consisting of separate fragments-memoirs, it is united by a single artistic concept and recreates a harmoniously holistic picture of the life of the writer's childhood.

Volume 3 consists of the novels of different years that brought the writer wide fame: "Father", "Squanderers", "I, the son of the working people ...", "Electric Machine", "Son of the Regiment" and "Trip south", as well as wartime stories: "Viaduct", "Our Father", "Flag".
