Vikenty Vikentievich Veresaev (pseudonym; real name Smidovich; 1867-1945) - prose writer, publicist, poet-translator. Winner of the last most prestigious literary Pushkin Prize (1919) and the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1943).

The book “Notes of a Doctor” (1901) brought all-Russian fame to the young writer, which caused heated debate due to the unusually sharp display of many sides profession.
