“At midnight, in the Renaissance…” — during the plague of 1348 — young people (seven girls and three boys) decide to take refuge from the pestilence in a country villa near Florence. For ten days, each of them tells one story a day. The collection of these witty and fervent or profoundly philosophical, frankly erotic or moralizing short stories, anecdotes and moralizing made up the "Decameron" (that is, the "ten diary"). Wrote this amazing work, which became the pearl of the literature of the Early Renaissance, Giovanni Boccaccio, an outstanding humanist, scientist, philologist, poet and writer, one of the most educated people of his time.
