The action of the story "Merry Burial" takes place in the studio of a dying Moscow artist, who has long been accustomed to New York. The last days of his life fall on the hot August of 1991 and are accompanied by the incessant accompaniment of importunate South American music rushing from the street, and tensely dramatic television broadcasts from Moscow. The hero is trying to resolve complicated and contradictory relations with his abandoned homeland, with the official god who is being imposed on him, and with the Higher Power whose presence he feels in the world... He seeks to reconcile everyone, help his illegitimate teenage daughter find herself, soften and aggressive feelings and leave behind not a bare and painful place, but an area of ​​love... And he succeeds...
