Nina Nikolaevna Berberova is a Russian writer, author of documentary and biographical research. In 1921 she entered the literary circles of Petrograd as a poetess. In June 1922 she received permission to leave the country with Khodasevich, who became her husband. First she lived with M. Gorky in Italy, then in Paris. For 15 years she was a literary employee of the daily Parisian newspaper "Latest News", where her first prose "Biancourt Holidays" was published, then the novels "Last and First" (1930), "The Lady" (1932), "Without sunset" (1938 ). The book "Relief of the lot" (1949), which absorbed the stories of 1934 - 1941, was highly appreciated by critics.
