From the publisher (1987):
After the death of Bogdana Yakovlevna Koprjiva-Luria, who died in Flushing (near New York) on May 29, 1981, a book was found among her papers dedicated to the memory of the late brother B.Ya., historian of antiquity Solomon Lurie (1890-1964) and, in the initial part, also in memory of his father - Yakov Anatolyevich (1862-1917). Papers B.Ya. they were mainly part of the archive of her brother S.Ya., transported in 1964, after his death in Lvov, to Leningrad and at the disposal of his relatives. Papers, as well as autobiographical notes by S.Ya. Lurie and materials related to his teachers and colleagues who died before him, B.Ya. Koprjiva, having moved to America in 1975, tried to take it with her - this especially applies to materials (unfortunately, rather scarce) related to her father, doctor Yakov Anatolyevich. The book, based largely on his brother's autobiographical notes, was begun in the late 1960s and completed shortly before B.Ya.'s death. Koprjiv-Lurie. Civil engineer by profession, B.Ya. I have always shown an interest in the humanities. Experts helped her in writing the book. On its pages, Bogdana Yakovlevna is mentioned everywhere in the third person.
