This collection includes poems by various poets that were not usually published in the USSR. Some of the poems went in the form of manuscripts, others as samizdat, some generally remained only in the memory of people. The compilers of this collection decided to collect all this and, providing comments and biographies, publish it abroad. This is how this anthology came about.

The anthology is a collection of Russian poetry (samizdat) of the mid-twentieth century and covers the work of about 150 poets. The material is accompanied by many reproduced manuscripts, typescripts, documents, drawings, photographs and collages. "By the Blue Lagoon" is the most extensive and systematized collection, provided with numerous and often unprintable comments by the compiler.
