M. Volodarsky's book differs significantly from all works known to us on this issue. In Russian historiography, it should rightfully be considered the last word of science. He extensively and thoroughly studied and skillfully used documents from a number of archives: the Central Party Archive of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism under the Central Committee of the CPSU, the Central State Historical Archive in Leningrad, the Central Archives of the Uzbek and Turkmen Republics, the Central Archive of the October Revolution, the Archive of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Archive foreign policy of Russia. He read and commented on published documents on questions of Soviet and international politics in a new way. He used memoirs and press in Russian, English and Persian.
