Understanding the literary fate, personality and work of Ivan Bunin, a great Russian artist, is not an easy task. And not only because his bright personality, rare talent and long life (he died in 1953 at the age of 83) often caused and still cause opposite judgments and assessments. The main difficulty lies elsewhere.
In the fate and books of Bunin, the most acute contradictions and conflicts of pre-revolutionary and revolutionary Russia of the late 19th and early 20th centuries were refracted. And they were refracted sharply individually, uniquely, in accordance with the rich life experience of the writer, his passionate and biased nature, the great talent of the artist.
Writing with great heartache about pre-revolutionary Russia, Bunin combined in his work a sharp criticism of his contemporary society with a fierce rejection of the revolution . All this led to the incredible complexity of his creative path, his loneliness as a writer, and the tragic break with his homeland.
This edition includes selected works of the writer, including translations.

The first volume includes stories from 1892 - 1909 and poems from 1886-1902.

The second volume includes stories from 1909-1912 and poems from 1903-1911

The third volume includes stories from 1912-1918 and poems from 1912-1916.

The fourth volume presents novels and short stories from 1921-1952 and poems from 1917-1952.

The fifth and final volume includes translations of the works “The Song of Hiawatha”, “Godiva”, “Manfred”, “The Golden Disc”, etc.
