Dolpola Sherab Gyaltsen is one of the greatest, truly legendary Dharma teachers of medieval Tibet. Being a powerful yogi, the incarnation of the king of Shambhala and the tenth holder of the Kalachakra lineage, he devoted himself to purifying the Teaching in the Age of decline of the Kali Yuga and restoring the Dharma of the times of the Krita Yuga, or the Age of the fullness of the Teaching. The treatise "Great Chronology of the Teaching, which is the meaning of the Fourth Council", or simply "The Fourth Council" and an autocommentary to it, is one of Dolpola's fundamental works, in which he lays the ideological and terminological basis of the Madhyamaka Zhentong teaching. Dividing the process of development of the Buddhist teaching into several epochs, Dolpola explains the essential differences between the teachings of the times of Krita Yuga and the views of the times of the decline of Dharma.
