At the end of November 2009, the world premiere of the last, still unpublished, novel "Laura and Her Original" by the famous Russian-American writer, one of the classics of literature of the 20th century, Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov, will take place. The Russian edition of the book will appear after the release of the American and English editions, which are scheduled for release on November 17, 2009.

The Azbuka-Klassika Publishing House has acquired exclusive rights to publish the novel in Russia. The publication is carried out within the framework of an agreement with the writer's son Dmitry Vladimirovich Nabokov, owner of The Estate of Vladimir Nabokov's international inheritance fund. , this is how the author ordered it to be disposed of shortly before his own death.
And now, more than 30 years after the death of Vladimir Nabokov, the writer's son Dmitry, after many years of reflection, decided to publish this, in his opinion, "brilliant, original and potentially revolutionary" thing, which is "the most concentrated quintessence of creativity" of his father.

Nabokov's last work, namely 13 8 index cards, handwritten by the author, are just a sketch of the unfinished novel that the writer worked on in the last years of his life.
The contents of the manuscript are kept in the strictest confidence, but fragments of "Laura and her original" were seen by Nabokov's biographer Brian Boyd, in whose words, "it is a masterpiece of technical skill, just like the later works of Shakespeare, where he very concentratedly expands the boundaries of his personal method."

The text of the novel "Laura and her original" will be published in two versions:< br />
1. Mass edition. Format 70x90/32 The publication includes the Russian text of the novel with indication in the margins of the numbers of the cards from which the translation was made. The book also includes two articles. In his preface, the writer's son Dmitry Nabokov explains why he decided to publish the novel against his father's will. In the afterword, the translator Gennady Barabtarlo tries to explain the meaning of the composition of the novel, paying special attention to the order of the cards adopted by Dmitry Nabokov and the literary consultant, the order in which the reader will be able to get acquainted with the text of the novel. Circulation: 50,000 copies.

2. Complete color edition. Format 60x90/16 The book consists of two blocks - Russian and English. The Russian block includes a translation of the novel with numbered cards in the margins, as well as articles by Dmitry Nabokov and Gennady Barabtarlo. The second block includes 138 photographs of cards on which the novel was recorded, with parallel transcribed English text.
