The End of a Chapter, Galsworthy's last work, consists of three parts: The Girl Waits (1931), The Desert in Bloom (1932), The Other Shore (1933).
The plot of the first part - the struggle of the main character Dinny Cherrel to save her brother from the impending trial.
The central conflict of the second part is the fight between the "old" England and that part of its youth, which in the trenches of the First World War lost its illusions about the justice of bourgeois civilization.
The third part is the story of the divorce proceedings of Dinny's sister Claire Corven. Here the author returns to the problem of bourgeois marriage as a form of property raised by him in the Forsyte Saga.
