Fadeev A.A. Young guard. Defeat. (Series: Library of World Literature for Children. Vol. 21). M. Children's literature, 1977. 704 p. Hard cover. Slightly enlarged format.

The Young Guard is a novel by the Soviet writer Alexander Fadeev, dedicated to the underground youth organization operating in Krasnodon during the Great Patriotic War called the Young Guard (1942-1943), many of whose members were executed by the German invaders.

Most of the main characters of the novel: Oleg Koshevoy, Ulyana Gromova, Lyubov Shevtsova, Ivan Zemnukhov, Sergey Tyulenin and others are real people. Along with them, fictional characters also act in the novel. In addition, the author, using the names of actually existing young underground workers known to him, endowed them with literary features, characters and actions, creatively rethinking the images of these characters.

There are two editions of the novel. The novel "Young Guard" was the second most published work of children's literature in the USSR in 1918-1986: the total circulation of 276 publications amounted to 26.143 million copies.

"Rout" (1926) - an autobiographical novel by Alexander Alexandrovich Fadeev, one of the most famous works dedicated to the Civil War in Russia, in which the writer, using the example of the life of a red partisan detachment, sought to show the spirit of the times. The novel is a naturalistic sketch of one of the episodes of the war, reflecting these events as authentically as possible, without hushing up and propaganda. The book tells what kind of people fought on the side of the Soviet regime, shows the sacrifices they had to make, and explains why it was these people who eventually won. The author condemns cowardice, selfishness and arrogance that separate a person from the collective and lead him to final moral decay. Roman Fadeev makes us think about humility in the face of difficulties and hardships that must be experienced through unity: people need to stick together and fight for a common idea.
