It includes all works of art, articles on literature and art, selected journalistic articles, selected letters and diaries. Each volume is accompanied by historical and literary commentaries. The 1st volume of the Collected Works of Leo Tolstoy includes the early literary works of the writer: the trilogy `Childhood. Adolescence. Youth`. Under `Unfinished. Sketches` unfinished excerpts `History of yesterday` and `Christmas night` are printed (Comments by A.V. Chicherin). Volume 2 includes novels and short stories from 1852-1856.
