Ivan Bilibin : Painting. Graphic arts. Album. The author-compiler of the album Golynets S.V. Leningrad, Aurora, 1988, 227p. col. ill., dust jacket, hardcover, landscape format. Circulation 30,000 copies
The album was printed in Finland, the illustrations are on coated paper, I.Ya. Bilibin. Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876-1942) - an outstanding Russian artist, master of book graphics and theatrical and decorative art. Particularly popular were his illustrations for Russian folk tales and epics, for the tales of A.S. Pushkin, recreating the colorful world of Russian antiquity and folklore. Using the decorative techniques of ancient Russian and folk art (embroideries, popular prints, icons), the artist created his own "Bilibino" graphic style. His theatrical work was also widely recognized. Operas by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, A.P. Borodin, M.P. Mussorgsky, M.I. Glinka were staged by Bilibin on the stages of St. Petersburg and Moscow, Prague and Paris. Bilibin's works are kept in the State Russian Museum and the All-Union Museum of A.S. Pushkin in Leningrad, in the State Central Theater Museum named after A.A. Bakhrushin in Moscow, in many public and private collections of the Soviet Union and abroad. This publication reflects all aspects of the artist's work, including relatively little-known easel graphics. The album contains 98 color and 97 tone reproductions (including reproductions of documentary photographs), an introductory article, excerpts from letters and articles written by Bilibin, reviews of his contemporaries.
The book is in like new condition, the dust jacket on top is slightly wrinkled.
