The book opens with the story "Almshouse". The heroes of the story are ordinary people who have fallen into this world "in its fatal moments." The next story, "Cavum Vulgaris", written in a completely different manner, could be classified as social fiction, although this is not entirely true. The author takes the reader to Germany in the second half of the 21st century. Then the author will return his reader to everyday life: in the short stories "Mangyshlak", "Outskirts", "Catastrophe" and "Obelisk". The central story of the collection, its culmination, is a complex, requiring intellectual work from the reader, associative text, riddled with irony and mockery. This, of course, is Prometheus, Metro and Shurik. However, the author's love for one of the great Russian composers and admiration for his genius can be seen behind the external amicosonicism.
