A detailed description of the events of the late 1980s - early 90s, connected, however paradoxical it may sound in our time, with the recognition of the very fact of the existence of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. and with its legal assessment. A separate struggle unfolded around the secret protocol attached to the pact on the division of spheres of influence. Estonia made every effort to ensure that the fact of the conclusion of the pact between Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany became an open property of the world community. The recognition by the world community of the pact and the existence of a secret protocol served as one of the legal foundations for the restoration of the independence of the Baltic countries.
