Foreword by M. Kurgantsev. Translated from Persian by N. Kondyreva and A. Mikhalev. Written in 1972, the satirical novel by the Iranian writer Pezeshk-zod "Uncle Napoleon" has already gone through more than 10 editions in the author's homeland. The action of the novel takes place in Tehran in the early 40s of our century. The author tells about life's twists and turns of a large family of the middle class. In the grotesque figure of Uncle Napoleon - a retired ensign who imagines himself a great commander in exile - the author maliciously ridicules all the insignificance and worthlessness of that layer of Iranian society that was the backbone of the monarchical system of power. The novel has been translated into Russian for the first time.
