Written in 1972, the satirical novel by the Iranian writer Pezeshk-zod "Uncle Napoleon" has withstood more than ten editions in the author's homeland. The action of the novel takes place in Tehran in the early 1940s. The author tells about the ups and downs of life of a large middle-class family. In the grotesque figure of Uncle Napoleon - a retired ensign who imagines himself a great commander in exile - the author maliciously ridicules all the insignificance and worthlessness of that layer of Iranian society that was the backbone of the monarchical system of power.
