Historical novel by the Hungarian writer Lajos Hollos Korvin. The events described in the novel precede the largest of the uprisings against the Habsburg Monarchy - the uprising led by the famous Ferenc Rakoczi. These years - the last decade of the 17th century - were especially difficult for Hungary, over which the shadow of the Austrian double-headed eagle spread. Vineyards are trampled, villages are burned, all fortresses are razed to the ground. Numerous detachments of mercenaries are prowling everywhere, planting the German order with fire and sword. But in response, uprising after uprising breaks out. They are led by experienced, brave commanders of the Kuruts - Tekeli, Salontai, Rakoczi. Against the background of these turbulent events, the fate of two friends, two homeless boys, who came in search of shelter and happiness almost the whole country, is unfolding. The treasures of Prince Rakoczi accidentally fall into their hands, which they want to transfer to the rebels to buy weapons. Friends experienced many adventures, different people came across to them on the roads of Hungary, but finally the guys do their duty - they hand over the treasures to the rebels. The novel ends with an uprising led by Ferenc Rakoczy, which was of great importance for the history of Hungary.
