More info

“Culinary Stories” is a book that grew out of the heading of the same name, which for many years has been written in the journal “Science and Life” by Igor Nikolayevich Sokolsky, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences. And he is an excellent storyteller, besides a wonderful connoisseur of literature and a great cook. Therefore, the book turned out to be exciting and interesting! For our part, we, the editors of Science and Life, tried to make it beautiful. In a word, before you, dear readers, will soon be a very "appetizing" work.

The book is a historical and culinary guide through the pages of literary works and memoirs of writers, poets, artists who left vivid descriptions of a wide variety of meals and dishes. Fascinating culinary stories tell what green cabbage soup was made of in the Pushkins' house, what cheesecakes Glinka loved, how Gogol fed his friends spaghetti with pesto sauce to the bone. This food reading book is written for lovers of classic literature, with recipes for the dishes mentioned in it, in case inquisitive readers want to cook them.

Most of the recipes are borrowed by the author from cookbooks and culinary collections published around the same time that the breakfasts, lunches and dinners described in literary works and memoirs took place.
