More info

Glinskaya Pustyn was founded in a dense dense forest in the village of Sosnovka, Glukhovsky district, Sumy region. There, in the 16th century, local peasants one day saw the icon of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, located high on a pine tree. A light of extraordinary beauty and power emanated from the icon. Soon a spring formed at this place, and numerous pilgrims received healings at this place through their prayers. Later, a chapel was built here, and then a monastery. The name of the schemamonk Archippus is closely connected with the Glinsk Hermitage. In 1852, at the age of 27, Athanasius (the future monk Archippus) came to the hermitage with the intention of becoming a monk, and remained there until his death in 1896. He led a modest and inconspicuous lifestyle, worked as a novice at a bakery for 33 years, constantly read the Psalter, was silent and modest. Patience and humility - these are the two main virtues that distinguished Father Archippus. Those who knew him closely spoke of him as a great humble and ascetic, whose life was completely devoted to the Lord and prayers for His glory. The book "Biography of the Glin ascetic Schemamonk Archippus" will tell in detail about the life, teachings and instructions of this outstanding Orthodox ascetic.
