The twenty-fifth volume of the Complete Collection of Russian Chronicles publishes the Moscow Chronicle of the late 15th century, known in literature as the Moscow Code of 1479 or 1480. This extensive chronicle begins with the Tale of Bygone Years and ends with the news of 1492. However, it can be assumed that the annalistic text continued somewhat further, since the last sheets are lost in the only copy of the 16th century. According to its content, the published annalistic code is all-Russian, and in origin - Moscow. It vividly reflected the aspirations of the Moscow ruling circles during the period of the creation of the Russian centralized state. “The historical merit of Moscow lies in the fact that it was and remains the basis and initiator of the creation of a centralized state in Russia” (Greetings from Comrade IV Stalin, Pravda, September 7, 1947). Apparently, a large all-Russian chronicle was compiled in Moscow shortly after the annexation of Veliky Novgorod to the Moscow Grand Duchy. Therefore, in the annalistic news of the second half of the 15th century, placed in the Moscow vault, special attention is paid to the history of relations between the Moscow Grand Duchy and Veliky Novgorod.
