The subtitle of the book "The Experience of Literary Research" refers us to "The Gulag Archipelago" by A. Solzhenitsyn, who was the first to raise the issue of the Vlasov movement. In the book, for the first time, on the basis of Russian and foreign archives, the memoirs of numerous participants, the civil war in the USSR in 1941-45 is shown. Fundamental work on the Russian Liberation Army, Gen. A. Vlasov and in general about the anti-Soviet movement during the Second World War. The author of the book, Vladimir Alexandrovich Batshev (b. 1947), is a writer, a member of the dissident underground of the 1960s and 80s, sentenced to five years in exile in 1966, graduated from the screenwriting department of VGIK, published only under a pseudonym, has been living in Germany since 1995, Author of over 15 books. The book is based on archival materials, foreign publications, as well as interviews with dozens of participants in the events (ROA servicemen, members of the NTS, etc.). Hundreds of photographs, documents, posters and leaflets, articles from Vlasov newspapers, etc. The volume of four volumes is more than 2300 pages. Vladimir Batshev repeatedly and always unsuccessfully tried to publish this book in Russia. It's nice to read a book where everything (or at least almost everything) is true. In our time, this is a rarity: and the further, the more. This work, however, offers us some more and some less than its title suggests. It contains not only a biography of Vlasov, but also a picture of his time. Vladimir Rudinsky. "Our Country", Buenos Aires Batshev does not give estimates - he only cites facts, documents, cites sources, but the reader himself must give an assessment. This method, first used by Solzhenitsyn in The Gulag Archipelago, makes it possible to get rid of Soviet assessments of this period and shows the past through the eyes of contemporaries. Batshev manages to create an impressive picture of the resistance of the Russian people to Stalin's tyranny. Wolfgang Kazak. New Journal New York Batshev's book is not only about General Vlasov himself, whose life is full of amazing zigzags and tragedy. But also - this is very important - in general about the liberation movement of the peoples of Russia during the Second World War, about the struggle of the peoples of the Soviet Union against the communists. The author set himself a difficult task: to revise some myths about the war and about the participation of the people in this war. "Russian Thought", Paris Could the outbreak of war with an external enemy, under certain circumstances, turn into a civil war? The author himself answers this in the affirmative. The whole book is a collection of arguments in favor of this version. Yuri Ryabinin. "Literary Russia", Moscow
