Sorption processes in groundwater pollution with heavy metals and radioactive elements. Zinc The fourth issue of the series "Sorption processes in groundwater pollution with heavy metals and radioactive elements" is devoted to the study of the adsorption / desorption behavior of zinc as one of the active trace elements that affect the growth and normal development of organisms. Many zinc compounds are toxic, primarily zinc sulfate and chloride, which are the most common among heavy metal compounds in areas of anthropogenic pollution. Adsorption / desorption processes make the most significant contribution to environmental pollution, and their study is one of the main tasks of geoecological research. The mechanisms of zinc adsorption in soils and rocks are presented depending on the nature of the absorber and various environmental conditions. The influence of the characteristics of the solid and liquid phases on the geochemical behavior of zinc in the "water-rock" system has been studied. Correlation coefficients and regression equations are given that relate the considered characteristics with the parameters of adsorption isotherms or with the distribution coefficient. The conditions of zinc leaching in areas of industrial pollution from deposited wastes and soils fertilized with sewage sludge are considered. The potential for zinc leaching from various materials has been evaluated. One of the tasks of the analytical review is to obtain information for modeling the behavior of zinc in the “water-rock” system under conditions of anthropogenic pollution.
