The book by priest Sergius Zheludkov was written “on the table” without hope of publication in his homeland. The author, in an extremely sharp and dramatic form, discusses with us those eternal questions that no self-respecting Christian or simply intelligent person who wants to find his attitude to the religious tradition that has determined the face of the world for almost two millennia has the right to ignore. According to the priests of the Russian Church abroad, who saw this work in print, it testified to the revival of religious thought in Russia. The book was published with comments from three representatives of the church - Archpriest Fr. Alexander Schmemann, dean of St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary near New York, Bishop Nathanael from Munich and an unsubscribed priest from Russia, a friend of Fr. Sergia Zheludkova.

(Dietmar Gerhard Stüdemann)
