Дионисий иконник и фрески Ферапонтова монастыря

Five hundred years have passed since the creation of the paintings of the Ferapont Monastery, and just under a hundred years since they were first published by V.T. Georgievsky in 1911 (a little earlier, in 1900, a book by I.I. Brilliantov appeared, dedicated to the history of the monastery and its monuments). Almost immediately after the first publications, the study of the frescoes continued. It has been carried out especially intensively in recent decades: the historical circumstances of the creation of the monument are clarified, various aspects of its decorative program and individual painting techniques used by the artists who worked here are covered in detail. In the process of studying the paintings, more and more new questions arise, indicating directions for further research.
