The collection “Eternal Sun” chronologically continues the book “A Look Through the Centuries. Russian fiction of the 18th and first half of the 19th centuries" (compiled by V. Guminsky, "Young Guard", 1977). This anthology consists of two sections: utopian and science fiction. It is not always possible to clearly distinguish between these genre varieties. Thus, A. Bogdanov considered his “Red Star” a utopian novel. But the predominance of scientific and technical aspects of the future in his book allows us to classify it as the second section. The first section makes an attempt to look at some of the problems central to Russian literature of that time from a special angle. The aspiration of a perfect world and a perfect person - this is how one could define the main orientation of the works collected here. But not only aspiration, but also an active search, a will for transformation, a firm belief that such a world and such a person should exist on Earth. Perhaps this section will serve to provide a more complete and profound understanding of the history of the ideals, aspirations and expectations of the Russian people, as expressed by its writers. The second section shows how the foundations of the science fiction genre, so popular today, were laid in the pre-revolutionary years. Compiler, author of the preface, information about the authors and comments S. Kalmykov. Illustrations by G. Metchenko. Contents: S. Kalmykov. In search of the "green stick".
