More info

The Siberian writer Mikhail Khabarov gave this artistic and documentary story the form of letters from a village philosopher to a friend-reader. Talking about the most intimate and painful things, the author of the letters reflects on the bright and shadow sides of life in a modern village, explores negative phenomena - the absence of a true owner of the land, migration to the city, abuse of power, etc.

The author tries to figure out why the ideas of glasnost, perestroika, high consciousness and morality are penetrating so slowly and difficultly into the psychology of village residents today. The story paints a social portrait of rural society, points out the hidden forces that are actively slowing down the processes of perestroika.
