More info

The book is a biography of the world famous scientist, one of the founders of nuclear physics and atomic energy, Enrico Fermi, written by his student, collaborator and friend Emilio Segre, Professor of Physics at the University of California. Together with E. Fermi, he participated in the study of radioactivity arising from neutron irradiation and the discovery of slow neutrons. For the discovery of the antiproton, E. Segre was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1959. Segre's book reveals the image of E. Fermi as a scientist: it talks about the style of his work, the problems he dealt with, and his relationships with collaborators and students. It is intended for a wide range of readers - from physicists to students and high school students.
