"...Write to Maritza!" Behind these words stands, above all, the image of the young Nadezhda Konstantinovna Krupskaya, secretary of the editorial board of Iskra, in whose hands was all the secret—sometimes quite dramatic—correspondence of the Iskra-ists.
Next to Nadezhda Konstantinovna stand the first agents of Iskra with their incredible work in terms of tension and heroism. A handful of young Russian Marxists bravely set out to storm the autocracy. Revolutionary Social Democrats from many countries with whom Lenin and his associates were connected took part in this assault.
The transportation and distribution of an illegal Marxist newspaper required enormous labor and selfless devotion to the cause of the revolution. No wonder Gleb Maksimilianovich Krzhizhanovsky wrote in his sonnet: “The newspaper cost us a lot of sacrifices. In the struggle for a new world, we cannot avoid victims...” This is not the first time Alexandra Arenshtein writes about the Iskra-ists for children and youth.
She wrote the novels “Feat of Life”, “Nina remains in Baku”, “Swallows of the Coming Spring”, “Early Moscow Morning” and others.
