Alexander Vasilyev (b. 1958) - fashion historian, TV presenter, theater artist, President of the Alexander Vasiliev Foundation, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, holder of the Order of Arts and Literature of France and the Order of the Cross of Latvia. The Vasiliev family tree is unusually branchy. In the family of Alexander Vasilyev were French and English aristocrats, statesmen of the era of Catherine the Great, actors, opera singers, theater directors and artists. He himself became a world-famous fashion historian and owner of a unique collection of historical costumes. However, by his own admission, the most important family value for him are the memories that are included in this book.
The first part of the book is the memoirs of Pyotr Pavlovich Vasiliev, theater director and uncle Alexander Vasiliev, about family life in pre-revolutionary Samara and wanderings around Siberia, ending in Moscow. The second part is the memoirs of our hero's father, Alexander Pavlovich, a famous theater artist. And in the third part, the voice of Alexander Vasiliev himself speaks about talented ancestors and the birth of the famous collection, about childhood and first love, about working in the theater and emigration to Paris.
